How to know God!

"For this is good and acceptable  in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."
1 Timothy 2:3-4

The Lord loves you and wants you to kNow HIm!

Here are 5 things God wants you to know.

Heaven is a free gift.

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

And heaven cannot be earned or deserved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Heaven had to be a free gift and cannot be earned because...

Man is a sinner.

Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

And man cannot save himself.

Matthew 5:48 says “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

Man also cannot save himself because of what we know of God.

God is merciful and doesn't want to punish us.

1 John 4:8b tells us, “God is love.”

But God is just and must punish sin.

Exodus 34:7b says, “"[God is] keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, [but] by no means clearing the guilty,”

So, we have a very serious problem, but God solved this problem in the person of Jesus Christ?

Jesus is both God and man.

John 1:1,14 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

And Jesus died on a cross to pay for our sins and to purchase a place in heaven.

Isaiah 53:6 tells us, “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

And this gift of God is freely received by...

Saving faith

Saving faith is not just head knowledge of temporary faith.

James 2:19 says, “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble!”

But saving faith in trusting in Jesus alone for eternal life.

Acts 16:31 says, “So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."”
