Political Involvement

We are often asked how involved we should be in Politics as a church.
And never forget, all believers are God's church in this world.
So, here are some helpful tools for you to pray about regarding political involvement.

1. We should be praying for all public figures, whether we agree with them or not.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 tells us, "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior."

Please pray for all leaders to see their need for the Lord so they can be saved and then have the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide them.
Please also pray they will learn the Bible is our guide to Christian living and for all standards for decision making, personally and for any city, state, or country.

2. We should take the time to get informed regarding candidates as well as propositions to vote in accordance with what best matches God's will.

Romans 12:2 tells us, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
And we have God's word to help us to know His will.

Proverbs 1:7 tells us, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Proverbs 9:10 tells us, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

3. We should be voting. We've been given the opportunity to influence our culture for the Lord and toward His biblical standards.

Matthew 5:13 tells us, "“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men."

The Lord's standards are always best for a culture, whether the culture understands it or not.
So, let's vote in accordance with God's word as best as we can discern it in the issues of our day.

4. Seek the Lord for His desired level of involvement in all we do in life.

Acts 1:8 tells us, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”"
John 16:13 tells us, "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."

The Lord has gifted all people for ministry outside as well as within the church. And we are to use these gifts to build up the Body of Christ.
We can also use our gifts to influence our culture as well as others in politics.
Please seek the Lord for this and become a servant wherever He leads you.
